It was originally constructed as a Hindu temple of god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple toward the end of the 12th century. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors</p></div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-map field--type-text-with-summary field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Map</div> <div class="field__item"><iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m8!1m3!1d15523.990802292423!2d103.8669857!3d13.4124693!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x0%3A0x3eaba81157b0418d!2sAngkor+Wat!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sin!4v1477851645291" width="100%" height="300" frameborder="0" style="border:0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-external-link field--type-link field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">External Link</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angkor_Wat">Angkor Wat</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-category field--type-entity-reference field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Category</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/334" hreflang="en">Religious</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/336" hreflang="en">Sightseeing</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/340" hreflang="en">Tourist Spot</a></div> </div> </div> Sat, 30 Jun 2018 08:13:40 +0000 admin 130 at http://chennai-in-focus.com The Javadhu Hills http://chennai-in-focus.com/javadhu-malai <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">The Javadhu Hills</span> <div id="flexslider-1" class="flexslider optionset-default imagestyle-flexslider-full"> <ul class="slides"> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88_Javadi-Hills.jpg?itok=765NZhaJ" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88.jpg?itok=ZlNftHue" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-%E0%AE%AA%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%A9%E0%AF%8D%20%E0%AE%A8%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%B0%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%B5%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%B4%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%9A%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%9A%E0%AE%BF-beemanmadavu-waterfalls.jpg?itok=W6htcENo" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-%E0%AE%AA%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%A9%E0%AF%8D%20%E0%AE%A8%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%B0%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%B5%E0%AF%80%E0%AE%B4%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%9A%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%9A%E0%AE%BF_beemanmadavu-waterfalls.jpg?itok=bll9Mhto" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%B3%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%B3%E0%AE%B0%E0%AF%8D-%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%88%E0%AE%95%E0%AE%B3%E0%AF%8D.jpg?itok=JEDt1v5R" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%B3%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%B3%E0%AE%B0%E0%AF%8D-%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%88.jpg?itok=F0CaEynz" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-%E0%AE%9C%E0%AE%AE%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%A9%E0%AE%BE-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%A4%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%A4%E0%AF%82%E0%AE%B0%E0%AF%8D.jpg?itok=3MyhkEKf" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> <li> <img src="/sites/default/files/styles/flexslider_full/public/2018-06/-%E0%AE%AE%E0%AE%B2%E0%AF%88-Kavalur-Observatory.jpg?itok=BX175ih1" width="1000" height="750" alt="The Javadhu Hills" typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-flexslider-full" /> <div class="flex-caption"></div> </li> </ul> </div> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" about="/user/1" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">admin</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Fri, 06/29/2018 - Vellore district lies on the north western side and Tiruvannamalai district lies on the south eastern side of this range. About 50 miles (80 km) wide and 20 miles (32 km) long, they are bisected into eastern and western sections by the Cheyyar and Agaram rivers, tributaries of the Palar. They consist of bluish gray granites, with peaks averaging 3,600–3,800 feet (1,100–1,150 m). The hills are sparsely populated; the majority of the inhabitants are Malayali tribespeople, though other castes are also present.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javadi_Hills#cite_note-1">[1]</a> There are many tourist places near Javadhu Hills, e.g., the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Beemanmadavu&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1">Beemanmadavu</a> waterfalls. The towns of Tirupattur, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaniyambadi">Vaniyambadi</a> and Ambur of Vellore district are located on the north western side and the towns of Chengam and Polur of Tiruvannamalai district are located on the south eastern side .</p></div> <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-map field--type-text-with-summary field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Map</div> <div class="field__item"></div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-external-link field--type-link field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">External Link</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javadi_Hills">The Javadhu Hills</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-tags field--type-entity-reference field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Location</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/285" hreflang="en">Tiruvannamalai</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-category field--type-entity-reference field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Category</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/336" hreflang="en">Sightseeing</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/339" hreflang="en">Street Photography</a></div> </div> </div> Fri, 29 Jun 2018 13:43:45 +0000 admin 105 at http://chennai-in-focus.com
